Junior Competitive (U12 - U16

The Eagle Football Philosophy

Narangba United has a strong focus on player development rather than a "win-at-all-cost," approach to its Junior Football.

In keeping with this philosophy we strongly advocate equal playing time for all Junior players. This may not be possible for every game, but is achievable over the whole season.

Junior Competition

Narangba United Football Club offers Junior Football fixtures for boys and girls from U12 - U16. These Age groups play in the Football Brisbane Administered Competition. This means that these teams travel to opposition fields. Depending on age group and ability travel times can be up to an 1.5 hours.

Fixtures formally become competitive from Under 12.  Football Brisbane requires all clubs to nominate their Junior Competitive teams into divisions according to ability.  Where there are more than two teams entered into the same age competition (U12 and above) FB requires all clubs to organise their age grouped teams into different Divisions.

Therefore it is necessary for all clubs to grade individual players according to their level of football development, (ability).

All of our Junior Competitive teams are mixed gender, at least up until U16.  With the continuing success of the Matilda's and an ever-increasing number of girls registering to play football, Narangba United will offer “all girl teams” where numbers permit.

Junior Grading Process

Assessment of player ability is based on player performance at grading sessions and advice from club coaches, who where possible, are also in attendance at grading sessions.

Grading sessions are an opportunity for all players (returning and new to the club) to be seen by the TD and qualified coaches and allow interim squads to be selected. The more sessions a player attends the greater the opportunity to demonstrate their ability.

Finalised squads to be announced in mid February at the latest when registration numbers are sufficient.

Once graded, players of similar ability will generally be placed in the same team.

Final teams will be announced by email.  Any queries regarding junior grading should be directed to the club Technical Director.  It is important to realise that team make up is not completely finalized until teams are announced by email, in February.

The overriding intention of grading is to place players into teams with team mates of a similar skill level and to enter each team in a division of the competition that is appropriate to their skill level.  “Getting in the right team is far more important than getting in the top team.”

Narangba United Football Club values all of its members regardless of their level of skill and experience.
We are a Community Club, run by volunteers, on a non-profit basis and seek to provide for the development of each and every player, with an emphasis on fun.
